Academic Policy

Duration of Classes: All students enrolled at Aquinas College are considered Full-time students. Students should be attending 20 or more theoretical or practicum hours per week.

Class Schedule: students are required to choose a specific class schedule that could be Morning Classes M-F: 9:00-1:00, Evening Classes M-F: 5:00-9:00,or Weekend Classes Sat & Sun: 8:00-6:00. In any request for a change of schedule, the student could fill-up the student request form and submit it to the academic department. The request should be submitted at least 1 week before the next module.

Integrity, cheating, and Plagiarism: If the student is caught cheating/cheated in any quiz/midterm / final exam/research/project the grade on that assessment will be automatically zero, and no chance to repeat that assessment.

Grading System: Aquinas College set a standard grading system for all programs. This grading system is also available on each course syllabus.

Grade Report: students’ grades are available on the students’ learning management portal online at the end of every module.

Honors and High Honors: Aquinas College recognizes the outstanding academic performance of eligible graduates of all programs.

The designation is noted on the graduates’ diplomas and transcripts. Below are the criteria:

  • High Honours: a cumulative point average of 95-100, with no grades lower than 90.
  • Honours a cumulative point average of 90- 94 with no grades lower than85.
  • Valedictorian A graduation Valedictorian will be chosen among the applicants for Valedictorian with the following criteria: High Honours Awardee, with a good recommendation from his/her teacher, obtained a job related to his/her program, quality delivery of speech that will be presented to the graduation committee. The Graduation Committee will be choosing one Valedictorian.

 

Completion: students are expected to graduate after completing all the program requirements and achieving passing grades in all courses. Students with failed marks will not be able to receive their Diploma or Certificate.

Major Exams Policies: Midterm Exam and Final Exam are the exams that the students can ask for a retake if the students did not reach a passing grade. Major exams are scheduled ahead of time, which will give students to prepare and make sure they are able to take the exam on the given date and time. If the student failed to attend the major exams, a valid excuse letter should be given to the teachers to be able to reschedule the exam for the specific student.

Grade Appeal: students have the right to appeal any action or decision which may affect the end result of their academic standing. To initiate a formal academic appeal of a grade, the student must submit the academic appeal form to the academic department within 20 days after the posting of the final grade.Grades are released on the learning management system.
