Educational Qualifications:

  • Alberta High School Diploma, including English 30-1 with a minimum grade of 65%, verified by transcript, or an equivalent qualification from a non-Alberta institution.
  • OR General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.).

Interview:

  • A successful interview with the school administration is required.

Mature Admission:

Age Requirement:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old, except in British Columbia where the minimum age is 19.

Testing:

  • Successful completion of the Wonderlic test with a passing score of 20.

English Language Proficiency (ELP) Requirements:

  • Automatic Qualification:
    • Completion of full-time education in English for the entirety of the program in Canada, or at least three years full-time education from another country where English is the primary language of instruction. Verification through a school transcript in English or a letter from the former school stating English as the medium of instruction.
  • Alternative Qualifications:
    • If the automatic qualification is not met, ELP can be demonstrated through one of the following tests:
      • Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB): Minimum score of 7.
      • IELTS: Overall band of 6.
      • TOEFL (IBT): Total score of 77.
      • CAEL: Total score not less than 60.
      • Duolingo: Score of 105.
      • Pearson English Test (PTE): Overall score of 70.

Interview:

    • A successful interview with the school administration is required.

Microsoft Advance (Plus Introduction to Adobe Suite) - Document Production (80 Hours):

Delving deeper into document production with Microsoft, this course explores the different types of office documents.
You’ll get to learn how to create standard, professional-looking files like in-bound and out-bound letters, memos, newsletters, presentations, etc. Along the line, you’ll be taken through Adobe Suite tutorials and how to create PDF documents.
You’ll also pick up on documentation skills like merging mails and crafting business reports, curating standard spreadsheets, deploying computerized mathematical functions, and visualization tools like graphs and charts.

Fundamentals of Communication (80 Hours)

This course explores communication theories and industry-best techniques. Students will sharpen their communication skills, learn public speaking, visual communication, and written communication. They’ll also learn how to communicate effectively under varying circumstances, with penetrating insights on interpersonal relationships, group dynamics, and intercultural environments. 

During practice, students will learn how to apply their skills in different scenarios such as customer service, internal communications, and stakeholder presentations. 

 

Working Environment and Office Professionalism (80 hours):

From work ethics to office etiquette, and corporate culture, this course provides an overview of the Canadian working environment. You’ll get to explore human relations, business relations, and multiculturalism in the Canadian context. 

Organizational structure and workflow is also a major talking point, with a focus on enhancing productivity skills. 

Technology and Office Procedure (80 Hours):

This course deals with office technology infrastructure, from internet connectivity to intercom, private cloud, etc. Students will also learn basic hardware and software troubleshooting, web tools, and cybersecurity. To complement your technology skills, the course also touches on communication skills and customer care skills.  

Business Communication (80 hours)

This course covers business communication skills, with a strong focus on critical thinking. You’ll get to learn the nitty-gritty of business communication tools like presentations, emails, business reports, budget proposals, and marketing materials.

Financial Administration (80 hours)

Gain a firm grasp of key financial and banking concepts in this course. It covers some important types of number crunching, financial planning and forecasting, and different types of financial documents. You’ll be shown the ins and outs of common financial transactions and also tackle some ethical issues that arise when managing financial transactions and information. 

Introduction to Bookkeeping (80 hours)

Provides an overview of basic bookkeeping principles. You’ll be briefly introduced to foundational theories and traditional techniques, but the primary focus is on modern, computerized practices. Learn how to execute accounting functions using accounting software and other modern technologies. 

Executive Office Management (80 hours)

Develop your leadership and organizational skills with 80 hours of penetrating drills on management and operational concepts. It invites you to flex your problem-solving and analytical muscles, and introduces a flurry of productivity and management tools to inspire you. 

Event and Project Management (80 hours)

Fine-tune your project management skills. You’ll be able to define key management concepts and deploy choice project management software. 

Digital and Social Media Administration (80 Hours)

A primer to digital marketing, this course provides an overview of the digital space, with a focus on the latest trends in content marketing and social media marketing. Here, you’ll be taken through the hoops of managing social media handles, social media ads, creating and maintaining websites, and deploying software. 

Practicum (160 Hours)

The final part of the program places you in a real-life office in an actual company or business. You’ll take on real shifts as an admin assistant, executive assistant, office coordinator, or customer service manager.
